Jessica's 1st compost pile

I started my first compost pile last year! It is so easy and it really does work. I know there were people that didn't have as much faith as I did....no names mentioned Bob..oops! But it has produced enough compost for all my garden beds. I highly recommend it and again....it is soooooo easy!

I purchased the bin online and the rest is a combination of all the extra fruit/vegetable scraps, egg shells, coffee grinds, yard clippings, newspapers, and even Christmas decorations. I clipped a ton of branches and things from my neighborhood during Winter to decorate my house, afterward I just threw it all into the compost pile. Check it out and hopefully you will start one too!

Spring Time Favorites

It is definitely Spring time in my garden. So many flowers are coming back and starting to bloom! One of the most delightful surprises is my late Grandmother's peony bush came back after last year's disaster. I brought the start of my Granny Terry's peony bush from Kentucky and planted in my garden last summer. It didn't do so well so I gave up on the idea I would have my Granny Terry's memory in my garden! Well....it came back this year! I sort of feel it is her way of being with me during such a special time!

The other wonderful thing about Spring is Easter Bread! Bob's mom sends us Italian Easter bread each year and for some reason I couldn't wait to get it this year! It tastes of lemon and is perfect toasted each morning with a little butter! It makes you want to get out of bed in the morning and trust me, I need good reasons not to hibernate these days:)

The herb garden is planted and hopefully in a couple of weeks I will not have to buy herbs for the rest of the summer. My neighborhood started garden plots this year and you can rent out a plot of land to have a nice size garden. I can't wait until next year and I can actually have my very own vegetable garden..some women wish for diamonds..others for gardens! Well, ok, I'll take both.

Kentucky Weekend April 17-19th

Bob and I headed to Kentucky for the weekend.

On Friday, my Mom and I shopped with my sister at our favorite garden store! It is one of my favorite times of the year, planning my gardens! I bought a ton of flowers and herbs and can't wait to plant them! After golfing, my Dad decided to saute some "land fish" or mushrooms if you will. This is one of the few times of the year you can find these mushrooms and my Dad demanded we try them. So at 9:30 PM, he prepares these very special mushrooms. They were really good, but we are still not sure what type of mushrooms they really are. I am still analyzing....if you have any thoughts please let me know. Obviously you will have to check the pictures.

Of course Moss loves going to Kentucky, she runs like crazy the entire time we are there! You can see her shots of how excited she is to arrive and of course how tired she is when we leave!

Saturday Mom and I headed to Lexington to spend some time with my aunts and cousins. We stayed with my Aunt Linda and visited with several others. My family is so fun and there are always a ton of laughs!!! I retired to bed about 11:45 but they stayed up until 2:30 playing poker! No worries, I'll be back to myself in no time!

Many thanks to Linda for hosting us and of course getting me Grater's Ice Cream!!!! I have been craving this ice cream and you can't get it anywhere in Tennessee! Mint Chocolate Chip of course, I actually brought back a pint of it so I can have a little each day:)
We had a blast and can't wait to return.

Ultrasound 20 weeks

Here is our little sweet pea! I finally got the shots from the 20 week ultrasound. All is good and where it needs to be! It is definitely a little girl:)

Last week, at 24 weeks, I had another ultrasound. It was amazing, I could see her blinking, sticking her tongue out, and I'm pretty sure she is sucking her thumb already. I completely fell in love with her and it has totally come to life for me. Along with the midday and 8:30 PM gymnastics sessions. It is completely predictable at this point. I look forward to this time of the day, it's like she is saying hello!

I hope you enjoy the shots as much as we do, I just can't believe she is going to triple in size!!!!!

Baby is good, Mommy is great 8lbs gain total!

Babies R Us

My friend Jackie and I are well on our way to filling out...literally! We are both due in the middle of the hot hot summer! She is on number two and decided she would guide me through the world of Babies R Us. We had a blast and there was waaaayyy too much to choose from. I managed my way through and enjoyed every minute of it because everywhere I looked there were people just like me....belly swelling ladies:)

I think some of my favorite items had to be bibs, burp clothes, and blankies! Toooo cute!

I thought the funniest thing Jackie asked me was, "Are you going to register for ANYTHING pink?" I don't know, I guess I'm your non-traditional girl! Plus, I know she will get a ton of pink items from all her cousins, aunts, and grandmothers:)
